Estelle Mandeville

 Bio
I start every new piece with a color in mind. Those colors mixed from only the primary colors, white, and black. I strive for rich natural colors and incorporate them in unnatural ways, using reds and yellows in the sky or blues for the ground. The next step is blending colors on a wood block or plexiglass, by adding transparent ink base to the ink I can add textures and layers to my prints.  To create the texture I use things like bubble wrap, plastic bags and thin wood veneers, the slightly transparent ink, the grooves of veneers and wringles in the plastic allow for different amounts of ink to be deposited on the page, effectively transferring the texture onto the print. I create loose abstract landscapes of mountains and city skylines. In somecases I will cut the print into the sections to create a multi-paneled print that can be displayed in one large frame or smaller separate frames.
